It is not the strongest specie that survives, but the one that better adapts to change

March 16, 2022

As in Nature evolution happens only through change, also in economy organizations must mutate to survive and evolve. It is without a doubt that, currently, evolution must be realized by selecting the right values, data and capitals. In other words, the sources of a success that, to be such, must necessarily be “sustainable”.

With the awareness that each journey towards sustainability is different and characterized by diverse complexities, I asked myself to which leadership approach can we refer in order to face the journey in the best possible way. It then seemed natural to brush up on the Fair Process Leadership (FPL) developed by professor Ludo Van der Heyden in 2015, that I, for that matter, had the honor to get to know and appreciate during my studies on Corporate Governance at INSEAD. A model that I deem not only more current than ever but, above all, a perfect fit to embark on a substantial mutation as the one triggered by sustainability.

FPL is based on total transparency as well as the maximum involvement of all the stakeholders:

“In simple terms, fair process will exist where the participants in the decision making process understand the process to be followed and the associated rules and modes of engagement, and perceive them to be fair with respect to all participants. Fair process becomes a reality when those expectations are also consistently fulfilled throughout the process.”

From this the idea C.E.D.R.O. was born, a different way to approach sustainability, a tailor-made, one-to-one approach that, at the same time, is a one size fits all. Therefore, a leadership model that drives the company to reach a sustainable and long lasting success.
